In his solo exhibition at Autograph, Faisal Abdu'Allah explored probing questions about history, myth, faith, masculinity, memory and violence, as well as race, representation and iconography. This exhibition booklet features highlights from The Duppy Conqueror and Other Works, including Abdu'Allah's sculpture, tapestries and installation. With an introductory text by Curator Mark Sealy.
Dr Faisal Abdu’Allah is an Associate Professor of Art and Faculty Director of UW-Madison's Creative Arts Community, The Studio. He graduated from the Royal College of Art, and completed his PhD in 2012 at the University of East London.
His work has been exhibited widely, including at the 55th Venice Biennale, Centro Atlantico de Arte Moderno in Gran Canaria, National Portrait Gallery and Whitechapel Gallery, British Film Institute Gallery, Serpentine Gallery, and the Chisenhale Gallery in London, and Studio Museum Harlem. His works are in the collections of Tate Britain, the V&A, the National Maritime Museum, the Chazen Museum (Madison), CAAM (Gran Canaria) and the British Arts Council.
