Rotimi Fani-Kayode, Every Moment Counts (Ecstatic Antibodies), 1989

During a tragically brief six-year career, Rotimi Fani-Kayode (1955 - 1989) used photography to explore themes of race, sexuality, spirituality and the self. He masterfully staged and crafted portraits, including this dramatic colour image, visualising black queer self-expression through a fusing of African and European cultures.

Prominent in the Black British art scene in the 1980s and an important figure in the history of art, Fani-Kayode was one of the first chairs of Autograph.

This photograph by the artist is among his most iconic, widely exhibited and written about. This particular image is held in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Museum of Art (USA), The University of Texas (USA), Yinka Shonibare CBE (NG/UK), and the Centraal Museum (NL).

These are the final prints available of this work and it will not be released in another size.
