The first monograph of London-based artist Thompson Hall. Through abstracted symbols and text, Hall’s work explores the inequalities of society and the world around him regarding politics, social change, marginalisation and, most recently, the impact that Covid-19 has had on our society. Primarily working with acrylic paint and pastel drawings, his often colourful palette takes inspiration from artists including Althea McNish, Ronald Moody and Kehinde Wiley.
Colour Is My Signature documents Hall's work produced in studios at ActionSpace, where he is a Resident Artist, and during his residency at Autograph in 2022. This hardcover publication features more than 30 images across 64 pages, with an introduction from Artistic Director & CEO of ActionSpace, Sheryll Catto, an in conversation between the artist and Autograph's director, Mark Sealy, and a text from curator Linsey Young providing a contemporary context for the work.
Colour Is My Signature is an outcome of the UK-wide EXPLORERS project, highlighting the extraordinary contribution neurodiverse people make to art and culture.
