ABOUT THE event

Guided by artist and writer Ishy Pryce-Parchment, this hands-on workshop invites participants to work with images from their own personal archives that hold significance in relation to memory, loss, cultural dis/locations and family.

Inspired by Pryce-Parchment's ongoing project Folding My Father (2020–), this workshop moves through a series of guided processes combining creative writing, work with reprinted photographic material and collage. Photographs will be scanned and reproduced onto recycled paper, becoming surfaces for writing, collage and mark-making. These image-text works will then be folded into sculptural forms using origami-based folding techniques. Together, we will explore the fold as both material process and metaphor, asking how these processes become ways of holding and reshaping our relationship to what is held in our archives.

After signing up, you will be invited to submit up to 3 digital images in advance and we will print these images for you to use on the day. Images from Autograph's archive will be provided if you don't have any images to use.

These images can hold ongoing personal significance and might depict:
- Somewhere you left, or call home
- Someone you miss
- A place of belonging or return
- A ancestor or family member
- A celebration moment
- A landscape or migration journey
- A home revisited through photographs

No previous writing or creative experience is required. All materials and refreshments will be provided.

The ticket price for this event is £10 and includes all materials. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. If this ticket price is unaffordable for you, please get in touch with Harriet at  harriet@autograph-abp.co.uk about free ticketing options.
