A playlist to accompany the exhibition Charan Singh: Your Tongue in My Mouth, celebrating the lives of gender fluid communities in India. The 22 tracks are drawn from Bollywood and Indian cinema, and were chosen by artist Charan Singh and the sitters featured in the 22 portraits on display in the exhibition. In conversation with the portraits, queer connotations are drawn out, and bring further inspiration, resonance and meaning to the works.
Singh explains: "Cinema has allowed us to connect with characters who resonate with our own experiences of being different, outsider or sometimes even rejected. Over the years, it has articulated the impossible queer desires."
