Join us for a late gallery opening, featuring a new pop-up exhibition of photography and video work created by young people living in and leaving care.
Working together with artist D. Wiafe, the young people produced a series of portraits exploring how light changes the way we see people and places. Over three days they created a photographic series of street portraits and polaroid pictures. Using natural light they posed and framed themselves against colourful urban backdrops in Shoreditch, an area they had not visited before. A video work used studio lighting to create moving portraits, documenting the young people’s response to a favourite music track.
Autograph is a place to see things differently. Since 1988, we have championed photography that explores issues of race, identity, representation, human rights and social justice, sharing how photographs reflect lived experiences and shape our understanding of ourselves and others.
