With the summer holidays just around the corner, this event is programmed for art and photography teachers to (re)ignite their personal creative practice within and beyond the school environment.
Take part in a series of practical prompts and open discussion led by artist and educator Natasha Caruana. At a time when teaching responsibilities result in personal practice being lost or minimised, this session centres on the word ‘artist’ in artist-teacher and aims to create space for teachers to prioritise their own practice.
All materials and refreshments provided.
Please note: This session is part of our teachers’ programme, and specifically programmed for primary and secondary teachers in England.
Natasha Caruana is a London-based artist and educator working across photography, moving image and installation. Since 2016 Caruana has run the NC mentorship scheme, an annual mentorship aimed at women under-represented within the arts. The self-funded scheme supports creative development, confidence, and provides valuable practical knowledge on how to maintain a creative work. In 2018, she founded the community Work Show Grow, an educational online community for creatives from all levels, stages and entry points, which supports your growth through school membership, mentorship, workshops and events.
The Visible Practice Residency is a three-year project to support and expand the personal practice of art and photography teachers from global majority backgrounds, elevating the teacher as artist and artist as teacher.
