The Onyx Project puts disabled artists and creatives with lived experience of racism in the driving seat. The project consists of three strands of activity - The Onyx Collective, mentoring and artist presentations - and it was conceived by Disability Arts Online (DAO) and The Onyx Collective founding members in 2020.
The collective is a group of seven artists who share the lived experience of disability and racism, nurtured and resourced to: create new work that results in a publication; lead on selection and commissioning; instigate its own programmes; be a critical friend to DAO and critique the wider sector.
