The Cultural lnclusion Manifesto holds an annual event to bring together those committed to equal access and inclusion within the arts for D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent individuals. The event is unique in bringing together children, families, artists, educators, funders and policy makers.
This - the 5th annual conference - will be co-chaired by a young person and the parent of disabled children and will include four panels addressing what the barriers to engage in the arts are and how to remove these barriers. Panels will feature young people, teachers and parents, cultural institutions and funders.
Autograph's Learning and Digital Engagement Manager, Livvy Murdoch, will be speaking at 11am on the panel 'Access and Inclusion Best Practice at Cultural Institutions'. Details of the full programme can be found here.
The event does not shy away from discussions on ableism, the brutality of financial cuts or the plethora of barriers to access and inclusion. It does celebrate the work that beats these odds and recognises that art itself is a radical and campaigning act. The Manifesto is based on standing up to be counted, and on connecting with others.
The Cultural Inclusion Manifesto aims to be fully inclusive. Please contact them by emailing info@culturalinclusion.uk to discuss any access needs not covered by the below provision:
Autograph is a place to see things differently. Since 1988, we have championed photography that explores issues of race, identity, representation, human rights and social justice, sharing how photographs reflect lived experiences and shape our understanding of ourselves and others.
